Disappointed Johnny didn't receive his well-deserved nod, thrilled that Diablo Cody won for Best Screenplay, the Cohen brothers scored 3 wins, and "Once's" song "Falling Slowly" by Glen Harsgard and Marketa Irglova won for Best Song. You must see this movie!

And as a side note, how sweet was it that Jon Stewart gave Irglova extra time to come back to the mic when the music cut her off?!
Any favorites or dissapointments on your end?
I thought it was all rather boring, but I think mostly b/c all the winners were so predictable. I did love that Marion Cotillard won for her portrayal of Edith Piaf and really want to see the movie. They say she basically becomes this woman and is amazing. I also liked that Jon Stewart let Irglova back to make her speech; classy.

I didn't watch it. Usually don't.
ReplyDeleteI actually watched this year thinking it would be inspiring, and it really wasn't. You mentioned most of the highlights. I honestly thought there would have been some upsets. I did like diablo's dress....
ReplyDeleteAre you talking about the movie -Once-? That should be in my mailbox today from Netflix. :)
ReplyDeleteI was upset at the Oscars this year. Usually, we have parties with prizes and ballots and everything. This year, I had too much going on to plan one. But, it just seemed so different to me this year! :(
ReplyDeleteI LOVED that "Once"'s song won! I love that movie (we own it). I was so sad for her when she got cut off, but really loved that Jon Stewart brought her back on -- especially as her speech was one of the best.
ReplyDeleteBummer that Johnny didn't win--he deserves to win an ocsar one of these days. We were stoked to hear that Daniel Day Lewis won, though. He's right up there with Johhny, in my opinion. The older I get, the less of a desire I have to watch the Ocsars. Or maybe it's just being married to someone who dislikes that stuff. ;)
