Because I am passionate about reading and fostering a love of books in children from an early age, I thought it would be fun to post a bi-monthly children's book recommendation.
Thus, to begin, here's my first rec: Do You Have a Hat? by Eileen Spinelli. Using rhyme, Spinelli introduces young readers to various historical figures, ranging from Franciso de Goya to Carmen Miranda to Charlie Chaplin. Each real-life character wore a hat and the author creatively describes how it set him/her apart. The illustrations are beautiful and captivating; this book should be added to your child's library today.
Oh, how much fun! I will be adding this either to my own "Gma library", or....to Ben and Laila's. I will look forward to your recommendations.

Great idea. I look forward to the book suggestions! My cousin just gave Lauren a book called Sleep in Peace by a Chicago writer, Ingrid Hess. It's a Christian book with a global perspective on going to sleep.

oh, girl, you KNOW how much i love this newest entry idea for your blog! i am SO with you on the importance of reading/books in children's lives...and i'm thrilled that one of owen's favorite things has always been to be read to and to read (pretend of course!)
ReplyDeleteYou will love seeing all the different ways Maggie interacts with her books...you have already witnessed the eating stage, staring intently at the pages, and now recently turning pages and laughing at favorite parts. i love it! now owen likes to point out things and name them...and he learned his colors from one fish, two fish by dr. seuss. amazing!
i will definitely add this book to owie's ever-growing library...it sounds so cool! if i were more ambitious, i would prob. do this on my blog too, he he he. i'm lucky if i update every month!
